Designing for the Long Read
Vesper is an independent editorial platform focused on craft, culture, and contemporary practice. The brief was deceptively simple: make reading the priority. That meant stripping back nearly everything — navigation flattened, sidebar eliminated, ads nonexistent. What remained was a typographic system that respects the reader’s attention and a layout that earns scroll.
We built a custom Framer site with a CMS-driven article structure, dark mode from the ground up, and a homepage that features editorial photography at full bleed. Every interaction was considered — links animate on hover with ink-like transitions, images load with a subtle grain overlay, and the reading progress indicator stays invisible until needed.
Outcome
Launched in March 2025. Average session duration up 3.4 minutes from the previous platform. Featured in Framer’s showcase within two weeks of going live.
